Only the quiet ones survive day one. The spin-off prequel and third instalment in the A Quiet Place film series A Quiet Place: Day One is out now in UK cinemas. This instalment sees Michael Sarnoski stepping into the role as director, working closely alongside the film series’ previous director and actor John Kransinski.

Production designer Simon Bowles worked very closely with Sarnoski to bring the streets of New York to life on our studio backlot. Speaking on his time working on the project with The Hollywood News, Bowles shared their rationale for shooting at WBSL:

“We wanted to shoot on a backlot, in this case, at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, so we could destroy everything properly! On location, we’d have been able to do small things, but I wanted to do something much bigger. I wanted to see the crater holes where meteorites had crashed diagonally through buildings. To see that massive scar through the structure and the consequences of the impact; that the meteorite has clipped a car, and that car has ended up inside a building, on its side, and then caught fire.”

-Simon Bowles, Production Designer for A Quiet Place: Day One
