Oscar-nominated writer/director Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated Barbie The Movie is out now in cinemas across the UK. We were so proud to be home to this production, which turned our studio pink as they brought Barbieland to life across eight of our stages and backlot. The entirety of the Barbie Land scenes were filmed here.

Designed by Oscar-nominated production designer Sarah Greenwood, the spectacular sets included Barbie’s iconic dreamhouse, Ken’s house, an expansive beach set and numerous other interior and exterior locations.

The Warner Bros. Set Lighting & Rigging team provided the production lighting and rigging for all shooting at the studios, supporting the lighting team on particularly impressive sky panel set ups which bathed each stage in an iconic Barbie Land glow.

“Barbie has so much recognition, so much love, and of course a 60-plus-year history, which was exciting for me. As a writer and a director, I’m always looking for a fun challenge. As with Little Women, Barbie is a property we all know, but to me she felt like a character with a story to tell, one that I could find a new, unexpected way into, honoring her legacy while making her world feel fresh and alive and modern.”
